We will be taking off Friday afternoon to head to the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, Louisiana with Andrew's parents and his aunt and uncle. Andrew and I have had the gambling itch for a while and this weekend will be a perfect chance to stretch our gambling legs before going to Vegas to celebrate my 30th B-day for Labor Day weekend! Can't wait! Well...actually...I am not that excited about the fact that I'll be turning 30 soon, but I'll sacrifice my youth for a chance to go to Vegas. Let's just say I'm taking one for the team.
Anyways, back to Coushatta... K.P. will be traveling with us to the great state of Louisiana (his first trip out of Texas!) so we have had to consider what activities we can do with him. There are tons of restaurants and shops, as well as a pool, etc. so there is plenty to do besides gamble. Also, between Andrew's parents and his aunt I am sure I will have no problem having someone to play with him while I slip off to the tables. However, for those who do not have family members traveling with them, I was perusing the casino web site and noticed that there is a day care or "Kids Quest" for children at the casino. The day care is for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age! 6 weeks! I found that kind of shocking. I am certainly not one to judge, after all, I am bringing a 4-month-old to a casino, but 6 weeks seems awfully young. That's not even the most shocking part. Apparently the day care stays open to 2 A.M.!!! I'm sorry, but if you drop a 6-week old baby off at a casino day care and don't pick it up until 2 A.M., you might have a problem. I'm not sure if it is a gambling problem or a poor-judgment-in-parenting problem but it's a problem nonetheless.
I should note, however, that the notion of a "Kids Quest" for older kids is actually a pretty good idea. It looks like there is a huge indoor playground, kids karaoke and arts and crafts. I would have certainly enjoyed something like that as a kid.
Maybe I shouldn't be too hasty to judge. The web site says the center offers "top quality child care in a safe, wholesome and fun environment." I'll check it out and let you all know what I think.

Very interesting. Daycare options for big kids does seem like a good idea - especially is it actually fun. For the big kids that might be a nice change from the pool.
For the babies - tough choice. Parents might want to check out the caregivers before making a decision.
You are definitely right about the 2 a.m. part. What parent would even want to leave there baby for that long?
Just get him a high chair, a milk cocktail, and a cigar and leave him at the poker table. He'll be fine.
